Economic Recovery: Second batch of 4-billion-euro package goes to 43 pipeline and electricity projects

The European Commission selected today 43 major energy projects, which will significantly contribute to the economic recovery in the EU, while increasing our security of energy supply by creating cross-border infrastructure. With today’s decision, the Commission grants € 2.3 billion to 31 gas and 12 electricity projects. This is the second financial decision under the Economic Recovery Package which amounts to almost 4 billion Euros. It is the largest amount the EU has ever spent on energy infrastructure.

Aujourd’hui, la Commission européenne a sélectionné 43 grands projets, dans le domaine de l’énergie, qui vont grandement contribuer à la reprise économique dans l’UE et accroître notre sécurité d’approvisionnement énergétique en créant des infrastructures transfrontières. Par la décision d’aujourd’hui, la Commission accorde 2,3 milliards d’euros à 31 projets concernant le gaz et à 12 projets concernant l’électricité. Il s’agit de la deuxième décision financière au titre du paquet pour la relance économique, dont le montant est de 4 milliards d’euros, et c’est la somme la plus élevée que l’UE ait jamais consacrée à l’infrastructure énergétique.
